Dye Inks  Water-based inks where dye is dissolved in water – similar to an ink cartridge in a fountain pen. Disadvantages are that the inks are not water-resistant or particularly light-resistant, but the advantage is that the dye inks absorb into the surfaces of printing substrates and therefore the surfaces remain glossy (with glossy paper).
