Anti static Films are films that no longer statically charge. Most films on the market feature a conductive layer that electrical charge can flow through. Friction generates electrostatic charge which does not discharge easily via humidity when the air is dry (in winter). In summer – when there is more moisture in the air due to higher temperatures – this energy can discharge better as the air is more conductive. For this reason, anti static films mostly feature a hygroscopic surface coating that attracts humidity to discharge energy via a moist film. Films with a surface resistance of < 1011 Ω (Ohm) are referred to as anti static.
