Calibration is the process of adjusting printer software to inks and printing substrate (the medium). First a standard colour scale is printed out and then, with the help of a spectral photometer, the colour density and values of the printed colours are measured and adopted by the calibration software. This data is saved as a printer profile and incorporated into the RIP (raster image processor). The next time the same ink is used to print on the same material, the RIP software automatically makes the corresponding colour corrections after selecting the profile
