Surface tension

Surface tension is the phenomenon that occurs in liquids as a result of molecular forces to keep their surface small.

The surface of a liquid behaves similar to a stretched, elastic film. This effect is the reason why water forms drops, for example, and contributes to the fact that some insects can walk on water or that a razor blade "floats" on water.

If the surface tension on the film surface is too low, then printing inks or adhesives have too little adhesion.
