The 100 µm thickness is a special thickness that is not part of the standard product range. It is produced on special customer request, therefore there is no immediately available technical data, a special TDS will be created in this case.

Depending on the time of order and production planning at that time, please allow between 7 - 10 weeks lead time between order date and delivery date.

The production of our optimont® PLA films:

The production is done by fermentation from sugar and starch with the help of lactic acid bacteria or certain fungi. The resulting intermediate product, lactic acid, is polymerized at approx. 180 °C while adding a catalyst (tin oxide). The choice of fermentation bacteria determines the subsequent molecular structure (L- or D-lactides) and thus the durability or degradability of the plastic. The spectrum of properties depends on the molecular mass and degree of crystallinity and can also be extended by copolymerisation with other monomers. Mixing with other bioplastics is possible as well as adding fibres. Lactic acid can also be produced petrochemically from ethine (acetylene) and ethene (ethylene). PLA can be synthesized directly from organic solvents by polycondensation. Ultimately, pure PLA is an organic raw material that is not ready for use. Only by adding compounds/additives the desired mixture or blend is produced, which is processed tailor-made for the respective application.
