The drawing film optimont® Z2M is manufactured from dimensionally stable BO-PET material. The translucency of the film and the double-sided matte coating enable many applications and special effects.

As a transparent film for technical drawings, it meets all requirements that a dimensionally stable film for CAD drawings must fulfill: very good flatness, no distortion with fluctuations in humidity, as well as excellent color brilliance and depth effect.

The translucent and double-sided matte coated drawing films optimont® Z2M can be used for high-contrast hand drawings with felt-tip pens, water-soluble inks, or pencils.

The PET film for construction drawings is also suitable for use on large-format copiers or pen plotters.

With the product optimont® Z2MIJ, we also offer a drawing film that is very well suited for processing on inkjet plotters.

The fine matte surface makes it possible to draw even detailed elements with precision.

Plans drawn on optimont® Z2M can be excellently colored and show high color brilliance.

Interesting effects can be achieved when the color is applied on the reverse side of the film and shines through softly due to the double-sided matting. This creates a certain depth effect and can enhance the color intensity.

The outlines of motifs can be traced very well on optimont® Z2M. Color gradients can be reproduced accurately, and the color brilliance and depth of the prints are excellent.

Advantages of the BO-PET material for optimont® Z2M drawing film

Biaxially oriented polyester film – which is where the name BO-PET film comes from – is particularly well suited for the production of drawing film for several reasons.

The biaxial orientation is achieved through a processing step after extrusion, in which the produced film is heated once again and stretched in the machine direction as well as across the machine direction.

This stretching process, as the technical term is called, gives the film very good mechanical properties as well as the dimensional stability and flatness that are so important for processing in plotters.

With the double-sided matte translucent coating, the BO-PET base film becomes the versatile drawing film optimont® Z2M.

optimont® Z2M – technical drawing film on rolls or in sheets

We can supply our transparent film for technical drawings optimont® Z2M in a wide variety of configurations. optimont® Z2M is available as tear-resistant drawing film in A0 size, in the standard formats DIN A4 and DIN A3, as well as in special formats or large sheets.

As roll material, optimont® Z2M is available in standard widths between 900 and 1520 millimeters. Other widths are also possible for corresponding order quantities.

We offer optimont® Z2M both as sheet material and as roll material in thicknesses of 75, 95, and 140 µm.

Rolls are normally 50 meters long, but special lengths and different core diameters are also possible for corresponding order quantities.

As standard, the core diameter of the technical drawing film rolls is two inches (50 millimeters), but three inches (76 millimeters) are also available.

Some technical data on optimont® Z2M

The specified film thicknesses of 75, 95, and 140 µm refer to the double-sided matte coated PET films for construction drawings. The underlying base films are each 20 µm thinner.

The melting point of optimont® Z2M is 252° Celsius, the light transmittance is 82%, and the whiteness level is 122%.

Ink dries immediately on optimont® Z2M. There is no smudging when erasing pencil or ink.

The chemical resistance to water, methyl ethyl ketone, and ethyl acetate is excellent.

The adhesion test of the coating using Tesa tape shows no peeling of the coating.

Storage stability of optimont® Z2M

The dimensionally stable film for CAD drawings optimont® Z2M must be stored below 40° Celsius in a dry place in its original packaging.

A closed warehouse or a closed storage room is suitable for the laser-cuttable drawing film.

Direct sunlight and other light sources should be avoided, as well as extreme humidity and heat.
